NEWS FROM NASFAA

The Department of Education (ED) in an updated notice said that they have identified issues with Completers Lists and FVT/GE Reports and has urged institutions to “pause” their reviews and use of these reports. Once the issue is resolved ED “will review the related reporting deadlines.” As a reminder NASFAA has been calling on the department to delay its institutional reporting deadline for its new gainful employment (GE) and financial value transparency (FVT) regulations to July 2025 and has put together resources for financial aid administrators to encourage members of Congress to take action to implement this delay. NASFAA is continuing to monitor this latest development and will continue to advocate for financial aid administrators. Stay tuned to Today’s News for the latest information on these new reporting requirements.

In this monthly round-up in Today's News, we would like to highlight what’s going on in your state and regional associations. This month, we have the opportunity to hear from our colleagues from Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Idaho, Pennsylvania, the Rocky Mountain Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (RMASFAA), the Southwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SWASFAA), and the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (WASFAA).

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Scenarios: The FUTURE Act Direct Data Exchange (FA-DDX) has been used to retrieve the FAFSA contributor's federal tax information (FTI) from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The school is completing verification and separating income for joint tax filers and only needs to correct some (but not all) of the tax and income fields on the Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR). In a separate scenario, the financial aid administrator (FAA) is exercising professional judgment (PJ) to adjust the contributor’s adjusted gross income (AGI).
