The Department of Education (ED) in an announcement on Friday said it would delay the institutional reporting deadline for gainful employment (GE) and financial value transparency (FVT) from October 1, 2024, until January 15, 2025.

On Friday NASFAA submitted comments to the Department of Education (ED) in response to its Request for Information on the 2025-26 FAFSA. ED has indicated it plans to make no substantive changes to the form itself from the 2024-25 aid year version, but is seeking comments on how to improve help text and suggestions on supporting materials ED can develop. NASFAA’s comments focused on the need for clear language in both question and help text wording, and also pointed out several areas we believe the FAFSA is inconsistent with changes to the HEA from the FAFSA Simplification Act.
