NEWS FROM NASFAA

According to a notice from Federal Student Aid (FSA) on August 29 the issue preventing Pell Grant eligibility information from being passed to the COD System for FAFSA Processing System (FPS) transactions has been resolved. Schools should resume submitting 2024-25 Pell Grant records tied to FPS transactions that were processed after August 28th. However, FSA is still trying to correct data in the COD system from August 18 through the 28th. While schools can submit or continue to hold any award submissions that were previously rejected, schools should know that these submissions will continue to be rejected until the department has completed correcting FPS transactions. Stay tuned to Today’s News for updates.

To round out the dog days of August and celebrate National Dog Day, which was recognized earlier this week, we invite you to better get to know some more of our NASFAA furry friends. See if you can match the dog to the NASFAA staff member. Play today

Please join us in congratulating Chansone Durden, who was promoted from account executive to senior manager at Earnest. Celebrate your own career developments by completing the "Movers and Shakers" form to share the news with your colleagues.

Join David Futrell, Director of Institutional Compliance, next week on September 4, at 2 p.m. ET for a discussion of the longstanding rules and general observations related to the treatment of other financial assistance (OFA) (formerly EFA). We’ll focus on the changes made by the FAFSA Simplification Act, which removes from OFA 1) emergency financial assistance for unexpected expenses within the student’s cost of attendance (COA); and 2) foster care payments under Title IV, Part E of the Social Security Act. We’ll also discuss what happens when Title IV aid and non-Title IV aid exceed the COA. Register today to reserve your seat.
