U.S. adults who either stopped out, or never enrolled in a postsecondary education program, collectively cited the biggest barrier to accessing a degree or credential is the cost of college.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Each year, NASFAA presents awards to deserving members of the financial aid profession and higher education community. Let's take a moment to congratulate the winners of the 2024 Regional Leadership Awards, which is presented to individuals, who need not be financial aid administrators, who have made outstanding contributions to the financial aid profession at the regional and state levels over a sustained period of time. Congratulations to Kelly Morrissey (EASFAA), Susan Teerink (MASFAA), Janet Riis (RMASFAA), Dr. Sharon Oliver (SASFAA), Cindy Perez (SWASFAA), and G. Michael Johnson (WASFAA). Take a look back at past recipients of the Regional Leadership Award, and see all of the 2024 award recipients.

Providing students and families with clear and accurate financial aid offers has never been more important — especially in a year when there’s less time for students to make a decision on college enrollment. The College Cost Transparency Initiative (CCT) is a national movement of institutions committing to use a common set of principles and standards that ensure transparency, clarity, and understanding around communicating student financial aid offers. Interested in participating? Make sure to submit your commitment before August 31 for a chance to win one of three complimentary registrations to NASFAA 2025 in Anaheim!

Blue Icon hosts monthly Let's Talk events to allow NASFAA Members to engage with peers, learn from each other, share information, and discuss best practices. Topics for the upcoming programming year include Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment reporting, data sharing, staff training plans, and more. View the schedule and register for an upcoming Let’s Talk session today.
