NEWS FROM NASFAA

This week on "Off the Cuff," Hugh, Jill, and David discuss several regulatory changes that become effective on July 1, 2024. Jill begins by giving a deep dive on some of the confusing elements of transcript withholding and details the Department of Education's (ED) regulatory approach to the issue. David then provides a brief overview of additional regulations that will also be going into effect on July 1.

NASFAA is pleased to provide an updated timeline of the simplified FAFSA rollout, covering new events from our last update through May 31, 2024. NASFAA will continue to update the timeline monthly as needed.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

As we approach the end of the academic year, we are collecting the names of financial aid colleagues and higher education industry VIPs who passed away in the last year (since July 2023). If you know of someone who should be recognized on this list, please submit an update by Thursday, June 13.

At this year's NASFAA Virtual Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to train for NASFAA's Need Analysis Professional Credential. In this credential training, the NASFAA U team will discuss need analysis with the implementation of the Student Aid Index (SAI) and the calculation of an applicant's SAI. This session will also include a lesson on institutional methodology. Completion of this live, online training qualifies participants to take the corresponding NASFAA Professional Credential test at no additional cost. Review the full schedule for the NASFAA 2024 Virtual Conference and register today!

Please join us in congratulating John Brandt, formerly the director of financial aid at Jackson State Community College, who is now the director of financial aid at Maranatha Baptist University, and Laura Blomgren, FAAC®, who was promoted from director of enrollment services to vice president of enrollment management at Pennsylvania Institute of Technology. Celebrate your own career developments by completing the "Movers and Shakers" form to share the news with your colleagues.
