NEWS FROM NASFAA

What the average student pays to attend college — after accounting for grants, loans, and other financial aid — has stagnated in recent years. But how students pay the remaining cost, known as the net price, has changed over time, according to a new report from the College Board published this week.

NASFAA is pleased to share a PowerPoint presentation for members to use in preparing campus partners for implementation of the FAFSA Simplification Act. The presentation provides a high-level summary of how FAFSA simplification will impact others on your campus and is intended to be downloaded and customized to fit your institution’s needs.

The Department of Education (ED) released the newest version of the College Financing Plan this week, which included expected updates stemming from the implementation of the FAFSA Simplification Act.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Don't miss your chance to join us February 4-7 in Washington, D.C., for NASFAA's 2024 Leadership & Legislative Conference & Expo. The conference features four distinct tracks to further your professional goals: Association Leadership, Compliance Management, Strategic Enrollment Management, and new for 2024, the Financial Aid Management & Leadership pathway. Learn more about the conference, view the agenda, and register today to secure your seat.

Many schools do not have the capacity or resources to use NASFAA’s SAI Modeling Tool, which helps predict changes in financial need and Federal Pell Grant eligibility as a result of FAFSA simplification. NASFAA, through its consulting firm Blue Icon Advisors, will assist up to 50 schools in utilizing the tool at a significantly reduced price. Alternately, if you have already utilized the tool, but are not quite sure how to read the data, this project will provide a summary report of your data for your review. This work is generously sponsored by a grant from Strada Education Foundation. Read more for next steps.
