"As college prices soar and more people question the worth of a degree, four universities in the Pittsburgh region have committed to a national initiative that aims to bolster transparency in student financial aid offers," the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

..."The University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia University, Slippery Rock University and Waynesburg University will all follow cost clarity principles laid out by the recently developed College Cost Transparency Initiative. The Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, a West Mifflin-based trade school, has also committed to the CCT’s standards.

Those five regional institutions join about 360 other schools that have also pledged commitment to the cost standards.

Participating schools will ensure their prices are understandable for students and families, explain all types of aid using plain language, and detail potential federal student loan debt costs, among other standards. The CCT has also developed a glossary of standard terms for schools to use, and released financial aid offer examples that meet the task force’s standards."
