UW-Oshkosh Alumni Could Face Garnished Wages If They Don't Pay Surprise $8,000 Bills

"The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is ramping up its efforts to recover money from a handful of students who received surprise bills requesting nearly $8,000 months after graduating," The Oshkosh Northwestern reports.

... "The bills came as a shock, multiple graduates told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, because they had already applied for graduation and received their diplomas. Several said they would struggle to pay down such a large sum of money in a short amount of time. Federal loans aren’t an option after a student is no longer enrolled, according to the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators."
