Nationally-Recognized Financial Experts Will Present NSLP's Popular 'Lessons for Life' Webcasts

September 29, 2009 -- This fall, the National Student Loan Program will offer two webcasts featuring nationally-recognized financial education experts. Ted Klontz, Ph.D., co-founder of Your Mental WealthTM will offer insights on financial behaviors and Jason Alderman, director of Visa's award-winning Practical Money Skills for Life will discuss credit scoring. The sessions are part of NSLP's popular, nationwide "Lessons for Life" webcasts.

"Lessons for Life" is part of NSLP's comprehensive financial literacy program, which includes over 25 on-campus educational presentations for students and NSLP's Financial Literacy Online, a convenient, online learning center that teaches students basic personal money management.

Lessons from Charles Dickens: Understanding/Changing Financial Behaviors

One of Dickens' timeless stories holds the keys to managing our financial lives. While much of our economic world is outside our control, surprisingly, we have far more influence over our financial well-being than we imagine. Our thinking, our historical experiences with money, and being clear about our dreams can influence our current and future financial experience.

Webcast presenter Ted Klontz, Ph.D., is co-founder of Your Mental WealthTM and president of Klontz Consulting Group. He has over 40 years of counseling, consulting and coaching experience and is a recognized pioneer in the emerging field of financial psychology.

The Ups and Downs of Credit Scoring

December 2, 1-2 pm central

You've seen the ads for credit scores on TV, online, and everywhere. You'll learn the whole story on credit scores, how to boost them, why they matter so much, and where they originated. Separate fact from fiction once and for all in this informative session.

Webcast presenter is Jason Alderman, who directs financial education programs for Visa, Inc., including the award-winning Practical Money Skills for Life and What's My Score? initiatives. His weekly personal finance column is carried in 300 community newspapers nationwide. Jason is a board member of the JumpStart Coalition and the Financial Literacy Advisory Board of the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences.
