Magee Appointed HESC Executive Vice President

Elsa Magee, who most recently served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations at HESC, has been appointed the agency’s Executive Vice President, President James C. Ross announced today.

Prior to coming to HESC, Magee worked for 15 years at the New York State Division of the Budget (DOB), the last 5 as Principal Budget Examiner responsible for monitoring the budgetary activities of the $1.7 billion operating budget and the $1.9 billion capital budget of the City University of New York. Magee began her career in state service with positions at the Public Service Commission and the then-named Office of Minority and Women’s Business Development.

Magee graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York - Albany and earned a Master of Science degree in Urban and Environmental Studies from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

"Elsa’s professional background and experience in the higher education community have been a substantial asset to HESC. Her oversight of the administration and management of the agency and its programs will enable HESC to make even greater strides to ensure an affordable college education for all New Yorkers," said Ross.

"It is an honor to serve the State of New York in this leadership position in higher education. We have many challenges and opportunities at HESC, and I look forward to helping build on the agency’s years of successes and keeping New York at the forefront of the financial aid profession," Magee stated.

About HESC: The New York State Higher Education Services Corporation is the State’s student financial aid agency, providing more grant and scholarship money to college students than any other state in the nation. The state’s student financial aid agency helped nearly 650,000 students achieve their dream of attending college by providing $4.5 billion in grants, scholarships and loan guarantees in 2007-08, including $795 million awarded through the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) to more than 370,000 students. HESC also provides training and technical services to financial aid administrators, high school counselors and lenders.
