Fund Your Future® Series Receive National Recognition
RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIF. (October 23, 2009) -- In these uncertain economic times, it is more important than ever for students and families to understand all the options available to help them pay for college. EdFund is pleased to announce the release of the 2010-11 edition of our award-winning annual Fund Your Future student financial aid publication series, available for order at www.edfund.org/FundYourFuture.
"Students and families should understand that there are many programs to help pay for college, and the process isn't as daunting as it may seem," said Sam Kipp, president of EdFund. "The Fund Your Future workbook is a one-stop resource that outlines the financial aid process, from applying to evaluating offers from colleges."
Recognized this year by the International Association of Business Communicators and the American Advertising Federation, the workbooks are geared toward high school seniors and incoming college students, and offer:
- a step-by-step guide to applying for student aid
- tips for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA
- at-a-glance charts summarizing key financial aid and federal loan programs
- a financial aid checklist organized by season
- paying-for-college options that are not based on financial need
- worksheets for student budgeting and evaluating financial aid offers
- a handy list of helpful Web sites on the back cover
The workbooks also cover federal student and parent loans, and what it means to accept a loan, including important rights and responsibilities.
In addition, a counselors' presentation, also available via edfund.org, walks school counselors through financial aid workshops they can, in turn, provide prospective and current college students. Also available is the Fund Your Future brochure, providing a condensed overview of the major financial aid programs which is ideal for students and families in the earlier stages of college planning.
Students and their families should go to their high school counseling center or to a college financial aid office nearby to pick up a copy of the 2010-11 Fund Your Future workbook or brochure. Spanish versions of the National workbook will be available mid-November.
