Fort Collins, CO (August 8, 2009) -- The Evans Consulting Group, Inc. (ECG) deeply mourns the passing of Burt Batty, a former consultant at ECG, past president of EASFAA, and former member of the NASFAA Board of Directors. Burt passed at his home with his family at his side on Saturday morning.

Burt joined ECG as a consultant in 2003 following a 25-year career in higher education administration. During his distinguished career, Burt served in senior-level positions in financial aid and enrollment services at the University of Maine, the University of Massachusetts, Kean University (NJ) and Curry College (MA). He was also a vice president at Maine Educational Services and associate director in charge of PeopleSoft installation for Cambridge Technology Partners. In addition to his consulting work at ECG, Burt was a consultant for several higher education institutions and agencies.

Burt served as president of EASFAA in 1987-1988 and was on the NASFAA Board of Directors during that time. He received a NASFAA State and Leadership Award in 1991. Along with his service to the higher education community, Burt was involved in local politics and served as both the chairman and a member of the Board of Selectman in his hometown of Richmond, ME.

ECG President & CEO Bob Evans, also former NASFAA president & chairman (1986-1987), remarked on Burt's accomplishments: "Burt served so effectively as president of EASFAA while I was on the NASFAA Board. His foremost concern was about how effectively we served students, and how we improved the administration of financial aid on our campuses. He was an accomplished sailor, and he not only steered his schools and the other agencies he served through difficult situations, but he also was a shining example of professionalism for our common mission. ECG and the financial aid community mourn his passing, but rejoice in his contributions to our profession. Burt, you are a true sailor... You have steered us admirably!"
