Immediate Past National Chair Gruen Appointed to Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance

David Gruen, Director of Student Financial Aid at the University of Wyoming and last year's NASFAA National Chair, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, (R-KY), appointed David Gruen of Laramie, Wyoming to the Advisory Committee, which provides expertise on student aid to Congress and the secretary of education. Gruen was recommended to McConnell by Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi (R).

"Dave has the experience working with and in rural states and he can use that expertise on a national level as financial aid issues are discussed," says Enzi, Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. "His past 37 years of financial aid experience are impressive and I look forward to working with him to ensure students have access to financial resources to higher education."

Gruen has been at the University of Wyoming for six years and currently serves on the NASFAA Board of Directors as Immediate Past National Chair. He also has served as president of both RMASFAA and the Wyoming Association. Before moving to Wyoming, Dave served as Director of Student Financial Services at Denver University, Director of Student Financial Aid at the University of Tulsa, and at Alfred University in New York and Southeastern Community College in North Carolina.
