Summary: Correction to instructions for Worksheet B on the 2008-2009 FAFSA

The final version of the 2007 IRS Form 4136 increased the number of credits and the corresponding tax line numbers for federal tax paid on fuels. Because of this IRS change, the current instruction on line 8 of Worksheet B for the 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is incorrect.

The correct instructions for line 8 of Worksheet B should be:

"Credit for federal tax on special fuels from IRS Form 4136-line 18 (non-farmers only)."

We are in the process of correcting the instructions for Worksheet B line 8 on FAFSA on the Web and FAA Access and the online PDF files. However, we will not be able to correct printed versions of the FAFSA and Worksheet until future reprints. A notice will be posted once the final versions of the forms have been completed.
