SLSA is the trade organization representing the loan servicers in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). FFELP is the largest source of student loan credit in the world. As "loan servicers" we provide the full range of servicing operations, including originations, customer service, conversion from in-school status to repayment, payment processing, collections, and claims processing for defaulted loans. SLSA has approximately 35 members, which service the loans of over 30 million borrowers, 22 million of whom are FFELP borrowers. The remaining borrowers have loans in the Perkins program, the National Direct Student Loan Program, or various private student loan programs.
