Mapping Your Future Enhances Customization For Schools Using Online Student Loan Counseling

Schools using Mapping Your Future's Online Student Loan Counseling now have additional options to better inform students about paying for college and to meet regulatory requirements.

In response to the regulatory requirement to provide Grad PLUS borrowers with average indebtedness information beginning July 1, Mapping Your Future has enhanced its indebtedness customization option for schools using Online Student Loan Counseling (OSLC).

This new indebtedness customization option allows schools to provide an average loan figure per federal loan type. The school then chooses to display other average loan information for students within the federal loan counseling sessions - giving students a total debt picture.

Mapping Your Future offers 17 OSLC sessions that schools can customize:

  • Stafford entrance (English and Spanish)
  • Stafford exit (English and Spanish)
  • Perkins entrance
  • Perkins exit
  • Stafford and Perkins combined entrance
  • Stafford and Perkins combined exit
  • Nursing entrance
  • Nursing exit
  • Health Professions Student Loan entrance
  • Health Professions Student Loan exit
  • Grad PLUS entrance
  • Grad PLUS exit
  • Stafford and Grad PLUS combined entrance
  • Stafford and Grad PLUS combined exit
  • TEACH Grant initial and subsequent counseling

OSLC enables schools and students to meet federal loan counseling requirements conveniently. It also enhances the loan management education of the student by actively involving them in the counseling - making OSLC an important default prevention tool. OSLC can provide busy school staff with an opportunity to spend more time with those students needing assistance in the loan process. It is a free service, provided by the guaranty agencies from around the country that sponsor Mapping Your Future, as well as the Friends that support the organization. All of the counseling sessions are guarantor and lender neutral.

Based in Round Rock, Texas, Mapping Your Future is a neutral, non-proprietary, and non-commercial national collaborative, public-service organization of the financial aid industry--bringing together the expertise of the industry to provide services online.
