2 New Reports Call On Colleges And Congress To Improve Work-Force Training (The Chronicle of Higher Education)
"Calls to shore up the American work force have come steadily in recent years. And two new reports out this week weigh in on the issue - highlighting work-force shortages and urging greater spending on higher education for more Americans," The Chronicle of Higher Education reports. "One report, released on Thursday by the National Commission on Adult Literacy, tackles skills shortages and their effect on the United States, while the other, released today by the Career College Association, identifies areas in which private career colleges could train more skilled workers. State and federal governments should focus adult-education efforts on the unemployed, immigrants with little or no English skills, parents, incarcerated adults, and high-school dropouts."
