Demand For Private Loans Keeps Growing (The Union Leader)
"Demand for private loans has grown over the last decade from 4 percent to 25 percent of student borrowers," the Union Leader reports. "The increase has made availability of capital to stand behind those loans critical in the lending process, and the auction-rate securities market has been a major source for the funding. With the market in a deep freeze, New Hampshire regulators may be poised to take action against a major player in the auction rate securities market."
