"The House gave final approval Thursday to the fiscal 2009 budget resolution, as the two parties traded jabs over whose fiscal policies were better for the country," Congressional Quarterly reports. "The vote to adopt the final version of the budget resolution was 214-210. The Senate adopted the plan Wednesday by 48-45. Democrats crowed that under their direction, Congress had adopted a final blueprint in an election year for the first time since 2000. Republicans acknowledged that accomplishment, but attacked the proposal as big on spending and taxes."
