NASFAA President & CEO Dr. Phil Day released a letter to NASFAA members yesterday recounting his first 100 days on the job.
"I just completed my first 100 days on the job at NASFAA and I am convinced of two things," wrote Day. "First, you are the most dedicated, concerned, and vibrant professionals that I've known in my 40 year history in higher education. Second, when we unite in our efforts to serve students, our voices cannot be ignored."
In the letter Day recounts the successes and legislative changes NASFAA has helped bring about in recent months.
"I do believe that this is a reflection of a renewed and shared sense of mission that NASFAA is now experiencing," wrote Day. "It is making a difference at all levels, but particularly with the resurgence of NASFAA's influence in Washington D.C. as elected officials are reminded by members' emails, advocacy on the Hill, and media efforts, that our expertise and dedication benefits more than 16 million students each year."
Day also outlined a few of the activities the Association will undertake in the coming months, including working more closely than ever before with NASFAA members in the field. Day has already begun informal dialogues with many financial aid administrators in the cities that he's visited.
