Department of Education Dear Colleague Letter

ANN-07-11: Direct Loan Processing Online Learning Module For EDExpress

Publication Date: May 22, 2007

DCL ID: ANN-07-11

Summary: This letter announces FSA's release of the third of three online, self-paced learning modules on EDExpress for 2007-08. This module, Direct Loan Processing, covers all Direct Loan functions of the EDExpress software.

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce the third release of EDExpress Basics, the web-based training product that teaches users the basic skills needed to access and navigate the 2007-08 EDExpress and EDConnect software. This module covers Direct Loan Processing functions. To access them, go to http://fsa4schools.ed.gov/edexpressbasics.

By using the software in a simulated environment, users will gain an understanding of the fundamental Direct Loan origination, disbursement and reconciliation functions of the EDExpress software. This training also covers the printing of Promissory notes. The training will be a resource for on-the-job training and re-training in the use of EDExpress. This self-paced training is intended for financial aid office staff with day-to-day responsibilities using the EDExpress software.

A Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act compliant version of the training will be released in late July of 2007. Please look for that announcement in the near future.

Sincerely,

Claire M. Roemer
