Department of Education Dear Colleague Letter

ANN-06-03: Third EDExpress Basics Training Module Released

April 2006

ANN-06-03

Summary: We are pleased to announce the release of the third of three online, self-paced learning modules on EDExpress for 2006-07. This module, "Pell Grant and Direct Loan Processing" covers all the Pell Grant Program and Direct Loan functions of the EDExpress software.

Dear Partner:

We are pleased to announce the release of the third module of EDExpress Basics, the web-based training product that teaches users the basic skills needed to access and navigate the 2006-07 EDExpress and EDConnect software. This module covers Pell Grant and Direct Loan Processing functions. To access EDExpress Basics, go to http://fsa4schools.ed.gov/edexpressbasics

By using the software in a simulated environment, users will gain an understanding of the fundamental Pell and Direct Loan awarding, disbursement and reconciliation functions of the EDExpress software. This training will be a resource for on-the-job training and re-training in the use of EDExpress. This self-paced training is intended for financial aid office staff with day-to-day responsibilities using the EDExpress software.

A version of EDExpress Basics that is compliant with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act will be released in the late spring. Look for that announcement in the near future.

Sincerely,

Kay Jacks
