Summary: Direct Loan Entrance and Exit Counseling Videos
Dear Direct Loan Colleague:
Federal Student Aid is pleased to announce that the Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video and the Direct Loan Exit Counseling video are available on the Web. The new editions of both counseling videos reflect statutory and regulatory changes through August 2007 and can be used to fulfill the entrance and exit counseling requirements described in the Volume 2, Chapter 6 of the “Federal Student Aid Handbook” posted on the Information for Financial Aid Professionals (IFAP) Web site.
Note: We recognize additional statutory and regulatory changes have been made since August 2007. However, we believe that these videos are general enough to remain useable for the near future. The printed counseling guides will be updated during Summer 2008 (we will provide additional information in a future Direct Loan Bulletin).
The Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video and the Direct Loan Exit Counseling video are available to view on the Direct Loan Web site’s Professionals page. A school can use these videos during on-campus counseling sessions or while working with individual students.
The Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video can be viewed by clicking on the following link: http://media.ed.gov:8080/ramgen/fsa/directloanentrance/fsaentvid2.smil?usehostname.
The Direct Loan Exit Counseling video can be viewed by clicking on the following link: http://media.ed.gov:8080/ramgen/fsa/directloanexit/fsaexiten.smil?usehostname.
Note: For technical reasons, the videos cannot be downloaded. However, as explained next, the videos are available on DVD.
The Direct Loan Entrance Counseling video and the Direct Loan Exit Counseling video will be provided on a DVD that includes both English and Spanish versions of both videos. The English version is closed-captioned. During the week of April 21, 2008, Federal Student Aid will mail the DVD to the financial aid office address on file for each Direct Loan school in the Postsecondary Education Participants System (PEPS). Additional copies of the DVD will be available for order (in limited quantities) through FSA Pubs.
As a reminder, both counseling guides are available in print format for order through FSA Pubs.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in the Direct Loan Program.
